Alighiero Boetti (Turin, 1940 – Rome, 1994) was one of the leading Italian artists of the postwar period. Associated with the Arte Povera movement, he developed a highly original practice centered on duality, time, order, and chance. He is especially renowned for his Mappa embroideries, produced in Afghanistan, and for works exploring language, numerical systems, and combinatory structures. His art combines conceptual rigor, poetic vision, and collective collaboration, leaving a lasting impact on international contemporary art.
