Ben Vautier, known simply as Ben, is a French artist of Swiss origin, born on July 18, 1935, in Naples. A leading figure of the Fluxus movement, he is famous for his conceptual works, performances, and calligraphic writings on a black background, often provocative and ironic.

In the 1960s, he ran a bookstore in Nice, which became a meeting place for avant-garde artists. He explored various media, including painting, installation, and relational art, constantly questioning the role of art and authenticity. His motto, "Art is life, life is art," reflects his radical vision.

Today, he is considered one of the most influential contemporary French artists, with works exhibited in prestigious museums and international collections.
