Pino Pascali (Bari, 1935 – Rome, 1968) was one of the leading figures of Italian art in the 1960s and a key artist associated with Arte Povera. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, he developed a highly original practice characterized by experimentation with unconventional materials, essential forms, and references to nature, the Mediterranean landscape, and childhood. His career was brief but remarkably influential. He died in Rome in 1968, aged just 32, following a motorcycle accident.
