Domenico Marranchino (Roccanova, Potenza - 1955), after having portrayed the evolution of the icons of a city in transformation through numerous works not only pictorial dedicated to the Porta Nuova area in Milan, becoming a witness of the ongoing transformation, begins a journey of subtraction of matter and color from his own works, apparently impoverishing them only from those harmonious conglomerates of urban color - very often nocturnal - which characterized a very important period of his production, to devote an ever increasing attention to the sign. Marranchino has recently approached monochrome, focusing on the elegant and essential shades of gray, in which the sense of movement remains a testimony to its appeal towards the human / inhuman dynamism of city life today.
