PABLO ATCHUGARRY - Biography

Pablo Atchugarry was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on August 23, 1954. The artist has achieved international fame thanks to the copious production of monumental sculptures, which can be admired in numerous public places both in Europe and in Latin America. In recognition of his artistic career, in July 2002 he was awarded the "Michelangelo" prize in Carrara. The following year Atchugarry represents Uruguay at the 50th International Art Exhibition - the Venice Biennale with the work Dreaming of Peace, an installation consisting of eight sculptures in Carrara marble and Bardiglio gray marble. The artist now lives and works between Lecco and Manantiales (Uruguay), where he is involved in the development of the Pablo Atchugarry Foundation and its international sculpture park.
