Born in Tokyo, Oki Izumi graduated in ancient Japanese literature at the University
Waseda from Tokyo, studied painting and sculpture with Aiko Miyawaki, Taku Iwasaki and
Yoshishige Saito. Awarded a scholarship for sculpture by the Government in 1977
Italian graduated in 1981 from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, in the sculpture course of
Giancarlo Marchese.
He has participated with his works and installations in numerous personal and collective exhibitions in
Italy, in Japan in other countries.
He participated in the Venice Biennale in 1985 (Progetto Venezia, Third exhibition
international architecture) and in 1986 (Art and Biology, XLII International Biennial of
Visual arts); at the Milan Triennale in 1983 (At the roots of the sun); at the Museum of modern
Art of hokkaido in Sapporo (Japan) (World Glass Art Now '91) in 1991; in 1992 to the
National Gallery of Modern Art of Rome (Japan-Italy, young generations), in
1997 at the Japanese Institute of Culture in Rome (Confini), with Paola Levi Montalcini ha
exhibited in Arte delle Muse in 1998 and with Iko Itsuki Damiani in 2010. In 2007 one
anthological exhibition at the Ljubljana Civic Museum (Slovenia). In 2014 a personal exhibition
(Stratifications) at the Museum of Santa Giulia in Brescia and an exhibition (Art of glass today in
Italy) at the Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan.
His works are also found in the Vatican's private warehouse.
