The word wall does not enjoy a good press: at best it expresses a rejection, a traumatic separation, a situation of extreme difficulty. But the walls can also be pages on which to read and decipher the signs of time, pictorial canvases by street artists inspired and from their tormented materiality new, often surprising compositions can be born. In his series dedicated to walls, the artist captures and recounts all these aspects. And the wall, finally, gets rid of its negative symbolic charge by transmuting into something else, thanks also to the very high definition macro exploration.
he wall in via Corridoni, in Milan, the protagonist of my“ Composit ”was a crucial meeting for me. Considered ugly by most because it is defaced
and peeled instead he appeared to my eyes as a lover capable of making me lose my head. The miracle of becoming a child again, capable of seeing stories, shapes, designs, colors. Metaphor of Time that with its inexorable pace creates, transforms, annihilates and then regenerates. I spent four
years (from 2008 to 2011) in front of this wall with the camera, a macro lens and a tripod to take shots, about two thousand, looking to grasp all the secrets imprinted on its rough surface. “
